Your Initial Enrollment Period spans the three months before your 65th birthday month, that month, and the three months after. Open Enrollment runs October 15 to December 7 each year.

Original Medicare (Parts A and B) is federal coverage usable with any provider that accepts Medicare. Medicare Advantage (Part C) is a private bundled alternative, often with drug, dental and vision extras, but with a network. See TAB. 01 above for a side-by-side.

Often yes. Skipping Part D without other creditable drug coverage can trigger a permanent late-enrollment penalty added to your premium later on.

Yes. You can switch during Open Enrollment (Oct 15 – Dec 7), during the Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment Period (Jan 1 – Mar 31), or with a qualifying Special Enrollment Period.
